“karmaṇy-evādhikāras te mā phaleṣu kadācana
mā karma-phala-hetur bhūr mā te saṅgo ‘stv akarmaṇi”
“You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty.”
“uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam avasādayet
ātmaiva hyātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur ātmanaḥ

One who is free from egoistic attachment, whose mind is fixed in wisdom, though he kills these people, he kills not, he is not bound.
vimūḍhā nāśananti māḷavaḥ
buddhiṁ yo vyavasāyātmikā
Those devoid of wisdom bear a vacant look in their faces. Their minds waver and they have no Discrimination.
ātmauṣadhamātmanā tuṣyatu nātmanā varteta
One should uplift oneself by one’s own self. One should not degrade oneself.
śreyān svadharmo viguṇaḥ paradharmāt svanuṣṭhitāt
svadharme nidhanaṁ śreyaḥ paradharmo bhayāvahaḥ
It is far better to discharge one’s prescribed duties, even though faultily, than another’s duties perfectly. Destruction in the course of performing one’s own duty is better than engaging in another’s duties, for to follow another’s path is dangerous.
uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam avasādayet
One must elevate oneself by one’s own mind, and not degrade oneself.
yadā saṁharate cāyaṁ kūrmo ‘ṅgānīva sarvaśaḥ
indriyāṇīndriyārthebhyas tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā
One who is able to withdraw his senses from sense objects, as the tortoise draws its limbs within the shell, is to be understood as truly situated in knowledge.
avajānanti māṁ mūḍhā mānuṣīṁ tanum āśritam
paraṁ bhāvam ajānanto mama bhūta-maheśvaram
Deluded fools deride Me when I descend in human form. They do not know My transcendental nature and supreme dominion over all that be.

Whenever and wherever, there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion, at that time I manifest Myself.

After attaining Me, the great souls do not take rebirth, which is transient and full of miseries, because they have attained the highest perfection.
dhyāyato viṣayān puṁsaḥ saṅgas teṣūpajāyate
saṅgāt sañjāyate kāmaḥ kāmāt krodho ‘bhijāyate
While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment lust develops, and from lust anger arises.
